Here’s the third video in my Social Media Pet Peeves video series.
Yes, it’s dark. And yes, I need to fix that.
In this video, I talk about a niggling, nagging social media pet peeve I see on a near-daily basis: People who have private conversations in public.
Please tell me you don’t do that. Do you?
I work for a nonprofit that helps job seekers become re-employed. On more than one occasion I have had the misfortune of hearing these seemingly intelligent people take phone interviews in the public restroom. It’s bad enough to have to listen to them, but consider what the interviewer must be hearing! Employment prospects probably not so good.
I think one distinction I would make is that with Twitter, only those following both participants to the conversation will see the tweets. I’ve seen people I follow go back and forth with others I follow for more than the 5-10 times you mention, but I don’t mind it since it’s sort of like overheard conversation at a networking event, and they don’t mind if others jump in. That may not always be the case, but again, that’s one of the reasons I prefer Twitter.
